Improve your smile with Orthognathic SurgerySometimes a malocclusion is so severe that braces alone won't properly realign teeth and jaws. In such cases, protruding upper and lower jaws and other facial abnormalities can be corrected by a collaboration between an orthodontist, and an oral surgeon. The resulting technique is orthognathic (meaning straight-jaws) surgery. The surgeon and orthodontist, using x-rays and casting materials, will carefully plan the procedure, which may include extraction of wisdom teeth or removal of part of the jaw itself. The ultimate goal of such straightening and realigning is to improve both chewing action and overall facial appearance. In most cases, the final result is just short of miraculous, improving not only the patient's looks but his or her entire self-image. We know how important a good self-image can be, and, if we can, we'd like to help yours. If you think orthognathic surgery could help you, give us a call. We'll be happy to discuss this type of treatment with you. For more information go to to our Contact Information Page or reach us by e-mail: griffiths@tmjarizona.com |
